Ogden City to Host Tour de ’Drome to

Raise Funds for Future Ogden Velodrome

Ogden, Utah (April 07, 2010) – Ogden City presents the Tour de ’Drome, a benefit bike tour on May 1 at 9 a.m. at Ogden’s Historic Pioneer Heritage Rodeo Grounds. All proceeds raised from the event will go towards Ogden’s future velodrome, part of a proposed new multi-sports field house complex. Participants can choose from 28 to104 miles routes. There will also be a “Fun Ride” for children of all ages.

Cyclists can choose from three fully-supported routes from 28 to 104 miles. All rides will begin and end at the Pioneer Heritage Rodeo Grounds, the historic velodrome site. The rodeo grounds are located at 668 17th Street in Ogden. Aide stations are located every 10 to 20 miles. Lunch will be provided for registered participants.

There will be a “Fun Ride” for children of all ages. Children are welcome to participate with or without their parents. The fun ride is approximately two miles. The Kids “Fun Ride” bib allows participants to visit the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park on May 1 or on one future visit following the event.

Cost of the Bike Tour is $50 until April 16, 2010 and $70 there after. The Kids “Fun Ride” registration cost is $7.50. Interested participants can register online at www.tourdedrome.com. Registration closes on April 29, 2010.

The velodrome will be part of the multi-sports field house complex in Ogden. The field house will include the velodrome, a walking track, a Boys and Girls Club, tennis courts, archery ranges and soccer/football fields.

Proof of bike tour registration will allow cyclists to receive transportation to and from the event on UTA’s Front Runner. The Ogden FrontRunner station is located at 23rd Street and Wall Avenue.
